My 2022 Year in Review (Everything I Fu*ked Up)

My daughter woke me up at 2:18 this morning. It is now 5:35. For the past 3 hours, I have been sitting in my office, looking out the window at this beautiful snow covered mountain.

I’m thinking of this past year. I’m thinking of the lessons learned, the mistakes made, and the experiences I’ve had.

I hope you’ll join me in this moment of self reflection.

If you're ready to run ads or are thinking about it, give this episode a listen!

4. Is There a New Feature on Twitter?!

I accidentally discovered a new feature on Twitter the other day, which allows you to expand your tweet threads into one long form post with a unique URL.

Some have told me this feature has been here, others say they are seeing it for the first time.

Click here to watch the video and let me know if you've seen this before.

5. Final Thought - "Don't Take Yourself So Seriously"

Let me tell you about one of the most important moments of the last year. It happened in December of 2021 when Raymond sent me back this hysterical image of Nicolas Cole slapping me in the face to use as the featured image in one of my articles.

Before this image, I was also so serious about the images I used on my blog. I wanted to be seen an "professional."

Publishing this blog post was liberating, because suddenly I gave myself permission to not take myself so seriously.

This year, my blog has taken off.

I've been working on my blog for 8 years, and this is the first time I feel as though I'm finally discovering what it is I want to say and how I want to say it.

I've agonized over my blog because I want to present my best self and be successful. But the harder I tried to be perfect, the more confined I felt in my messaging.

Once I started making these images, I realized the best thing I can do is to simply be myself and to share my journey in the way that feels most natural to me.

It was a real turning point for me.

Now, as we approach the new year, my mission is to use this same approach to expand in other areas.

  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • LinkedIn
  • My podcast
  • What I share (I want to start talking about my real estate business, my fitness, family, food, etc)

Who says I can't do this? Who says I have to confine myself to a box? There are no rules.

Here's the thing, it might not work. I might discover that the information you want from me is specific to online business, and if that day comes, I will gladly accept the reality and adjust to best serve you.

But I don't think that's how it works. I think people can naturally feel if you are being your true self, and that vulnerability and authenticity is attractive.

This year, I'm giving myself permission to fully be myself.

I hope you give yourself permission to do the same.

Love you guys.

Talk to you next week.

Tim

(P.S. - Please reply to this email and tell me if you like this shorter version of the newsletter better than the longer version. Thx.)
