1. Should you start a podcast? The answer is YES! Here's 3 reasons why

A few years ago, I read an article on Growth Lab, written by Jordan Harbinger. Jordan argues that most people SHOULD NOT start a podcast.

Jordan is a pro. He is one of the top podcasting experts in the world and his track record alone proves that he know what he is talking about.

However, I strongly disagree with Jordan and I am going to provide a counter argument as to why you SHOULD start a podcast.

2. Hard Work!

@lizandmollie puts things into perspective, BUT it doesn't tell you the whole story.

This kind of thinking applies only after you've earned some momentum.

But in the beginning, hard work is all you have.

You don't have time for good sleep. You don't have time to take time off. When you're first building a business you're entire life is fully committed to three things.

  • your business
  • your diet
  • your fitness

That's all you have time for.

After you've gotten some momentum, then time off and sleep has exponential value.

I'm successful because I will out work anyone, including you.

Don't get it twisted.

3. The difference is the idea

DALL·E 2 is a new AI system that can create realistic images and art from a description in natural language.

Which begs the question ... what is art?

Now that GPT-3 can write for you, and DALL E 2 can create visual art for you, what is left of humanity?

The answer: the idea.

When you commoditize aesthetic, the only competition is between ideas. - Jack Butcher

4. Behind the scenes of the Sober Nation relaunch

This week's podcast was really cool.

Ethan and I take you behind the scenes of my new website launch. I go in depth as to what we are working on, what the risks are, and why we made the choices we made.

I hope it doesn't blow up.

5. Asking 80 year old millionaires: Was it worth it?!

My friend Noah always has the most interesting video topics. This week, he published a video that got me thinking.

When I'm 80, I hope I can say it was worth it.

This is a big deal.

My skepticism around Bitcoin has always been that PEOPLE DON'T SPEND IT. Bitcoin maxis love to talk about it's utility and fail to mention that the utility is null and void if people don't treat it like a currency.

People don't buy coffee and donuts with Bitcoin, so how could it be an effective currency if it's only stored and hoarded?

However, this new announcement could be the jumping point.

My opinion: I doubt it.

Every once in a while, I am hit in the face with a realization. This twitter thread was a punch in the face for sure.

I am so fucking lucky. You are too.

8. Are you wasting money on advertising?

Stodzy manages many high dollar PPC campaign for our clients. We've spent multi millions on advertising and I have seen first hand, how powerful and effective Google ads can be.

That's why I was so shocked to read this interesting article from David James.

I highly recommend this short read. Also, I recommend you meditate on the concept of subtraction.

Are there areas in your life where removing something is a smarter idea than adding?

9. The secret to building relationships with influencers (without being awkward)

There’s one not-so-secret ingredient that fuels relationship building and makes SEO work. It also makes social sharing work. Referrals, too.

I won’t be mysterious about it — it’s links. Links make the web go around. They’re why it’s called a web in the first place.

In order to generate links, you need to generate relationships, and in this article Sonia Simone talks about how to do just that.

I've been thinking about getting to a place where I don't feel the need to accomplish anymore. But then I think about how even if I could, would I actually want to be there?

Is being satisfied actually satisfying?

Or is there something about the human condition that forces us to keep pushing forward?

Tony Robbins says that "happiness is progress." And I really agree with that statement. Everyone feels best about themselves when they are giving parts of themselves that contribute to the world. Unfortunately, the price we pay for momentary happiness is meandering discontentment.

Fear lives in the future and anxiety lives in the past. So if you live in the moment, you can avoid them both. Therefore, you can be present and content while also continuing to push yourself forward.

Being present in the moment is the solution to just about any emotional struggle I have.

I appreciate you. I'll talk to you next week.

Tim
